Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Day A brilliant day out in the Brecon beacons was organised by the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team on Saturday 2nd July 2011. This is the second time the CBMRT has taken several of our young people and their parents on an adventure day including their search-and-rescue dog, abesiling, off-road 4x4s, First Aid training and a compass exercise. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part and massive thanks go to the team who made it possible.
New playground is officially opened! A new playground at the Children's Centre was officially opened on 11th May 2011. After a lot of fundraising by "Enable", several successful grant applications and lots of hard work by individuals, the playground, which cost approximately £50,000 is now available to all the children who attend the Assessment Nursery, the holiday play-schemes and other children who attend the Centre for various therapy appointment. Centre manager, Tim Horton said: "The new playground is a really positive development for the community, and testament to the amount of hard work done by "Enable" and staff at the Centre. The children have already been enjoying it and it is a fantastic new resource for them to use."
Children's Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary! To celebrate the Children's Centre 20th anniversary, a party was held in the Assessment Nursery for children attending the nursery, their families and Centre staff. Tim Horton, Acting Centre Manager, reflected on how far the Centre has come in the 20 years it has been open, from a grain of an idea to the most important focus of services for disabled children in the Caerphilly Borough. The Centre now offers high quality services to over 800 disabled children, young people and their families in the Borough. Tim spoke about the tremendous amount of work that has been done in the past 20 years, by families, staff and volunteers and commented that the success of the Centre had been due to this extreme effort. Early Years Arts Day - October, 2010 This event was funded by Action for Children, and took place at Wesley Methodist Church Hall, Crescent Road, Caerphilly during October half-term break, supported by Children's Centre play staff.
