Community Occupational Therapy

Social Services Occupational Therapists work in the community, helping children with disabilities and their families overcome practical problems within their own homes and communities.

We will visit you at home to discuss the problems and suggest ways of helping your child to become more independent, and to help you with caring for your child, by the provision of various pieces of specialised equipment or adaptations to your home.

We are able to recommend small adaptations such as additional handrails up the stairs, by steps baths and toilets.

Sometimes there is a need to provide more extensive adaptations to a property and the Local Authority Adaptations Team maybe able to fund major adaptations, through their Disabled Facility Grant Scheme.
